House description
Sa Torre is a house located on the top of a picturesque hill, surrounded by more than 20.000 m2 of land. It is in a quiet area with wide open views.
The house is 350m from the main town of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, which has all the necessary amenities such as a supermarkets, chemist, petrol station, banks, restaurants, taxis etc.. All the beaches of the south of the island such as Ses Salinas, Cala Jundal, Cala Conta, Cala Tarida or Cala d’Hort and it’s emblematic islet of Es Vedra are within easy reach.
Sa Torre is a typical rural Ibicencan house, built in the 18th century. It was used for some time for religious ceremonies before the actual church of Sant Josep was built. During the following years it went through various modifications according to the needs of its different owners. In the present day it has been carefully restored, keeping the most representative architectural elements and characteristics of the Ibicencan culture, influenced from it’s beginnings by different Mediterranean cultures such as the Punic, Greek, Carthaginian, Roman or Arabic.
In the construction of an Ibicencan house, only natural elements were used, such as sandstone, wood, earth, mud or calcium. A notable characteristic is the modular design, with high and spacious chambers and thick walls that provide an ideal inside temperature all year round. The Ibicencan culture can be said to be spiritually minimalistic, simple and comfortable.
The tower of C’an Sergent can be found next to the house, a refuge tower built at the end of the 17th century that has recently been declared a B.I.C (Building of cultural interest).
The house has 250 m2 and more than 3500 m2 of terraces and gardens. It boasts an spacious lounge with satellite TV and a DSL internet connexion, a fully equipped kitchen with microwave oven and dishwasher, an spacious dinning room with a wooden loft, four bedrooms (two with double beds and TV, the other two with two single beds each), two bathrooms, balcony, washing room, barbecue with outside dinning area and a 60m2 pool complete with a chill out area.
