Discover Ibiza by boat

Search

Ibiza is a perfect destination to discover by boat, as it has so many spots which are only accessible from the sea. Renting a boat on Ibiza is an excellent way to make the most of its over 200 km of coastline. But please keep in mind that it is prohibited to cast anchor in the Meadows of posidonia oceanica. This plant which is endemic to the Pitiusas islands is the reason the Waters of Ibiza and Formentera are so wonderfully clear.

How about discovering Ibiza by boat?

Getting to know the small islands around the Pitiusas

You are not permitted to disembark on the emblematic islands of Es Vedra and Es Vedranell (on the west coast) or on Tagomago, a privately-owned island. However, if you are in a boat or even a kayak you can get close and circle them while enjoying amazing scenery and wonderful views. You can also get close to other islands off the coast like sa Conillera, s’Espartar, ses Margalides, Espalmador, la Isla de los Ahorcados. Or of course the breath-taking Formentera.

Coves you can get to from the sea

Much of Ibiza’s coast is very steep with coves which are hard to get to from land. If you have a rental boat, you can have these amazingly beautiful spots almost to yourself. By boat you can discover the secret coves of Ibiza like Es Portixol, Cala d’Albarca, Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort, Cala Llentrisca.

Boat trips

There are plenty of companies who organise wonderful trips along the coast of Ibiza and Formentera and who have thought of everything, so you don’t need to. In some you can sign up along with other people while in others you can reserve for a set number of people, always with an expert Captain at the Helm. Most include water sports like snorkelling, paddle surf, banana boat, wake boarding or lilos as well as snacks and drinks including bubbly so you can raise a glass to your perfect day at sea.

Some of them are:

Formentera Explorer

Lluna Plena Charter

And of course, a massively popular experience is going on one of the famous Ibiza party boats. Most leave from Playa den Bossa or the Port of San Antonio and usually offer open bar, food, a professional photographer, first class DJs entertainment, a stop for a swim, water activities and even an after party back on land or tickets to some of the better-known clubs.

Some of the better-known party boats are:
